Conkwell Grange Stables
Conkwell Grange was built in 1907 and provides the perfect training ground for racehorses.
With wonderful views from the gallops, it makes the ideal place for owners to see their horses working.
The quality of the yard is demonstrated by previous occupants, which have included both Sheikh Mohammed and Paul Keane.
Stables
There are 130 purpose built, spacious and well ventilated stables at Andrew's yard.
They are meticulously cleaned and maintained to ensure a pleasant environment for the horses and to cut down the risk of possible infections and viruses.
Gallops
Conkwell Grange currently has two gallops available. One of them is an all-weather polytrack gallop. This provide an ideal surface for working racehorses, whatever the conditions.
Andrew also has a grass gallop run available to him. With such a large area of land to work with, he is never short of fresh ground with which to work the horses.
Schooling Fences/Hurdles
The schooling fences/hurdles run alongside the grass gallop.
These obstacles provide a good test for any National hunt horse in training and allows Andrew to offer training to both codes of racing.
Hacking
Conkwell Grange is surrounded by the most fantastic countryside. There are countless routes available for horses to enjoy a relaxing hack on an easy day.
This allows the yard to provide the horses with a stimulating and varied environment to work in.
Breaking ring
The yard has a purpose built breaking ring. Andrew and the team break all their horses at home.
This allows them to know that the breaking process has been handled correctly and ensures that they can take a fresh, unbroken horse from the sales and guide it through the whole training process, until it finally reaches the track.
Horse Walker
Andrew has two horse walkers available to him. These allow for easy and safe preparation for work and for the warm down after exercise.
Turnout Paddocks
Andrew and the team feel it is important that the horses are turned out on a regular basis.
This allows the horses to enjoy as much of the fresh air as possible and allows them a free reign within the paddocks.
